The film is called The Calm. Getting the camera into its chaos was anything but.

For director Sam Hargrave and cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth, Andriu FPV joined the stunt choreography itself: car and motorcycle chases, crashes and performers leaving moving vehicles, filmed at close range with rehearsed lines, escape routes and precise abort points.

The Challenge

The film was built around continuous action: car and motorcycle chases, crashes, performers attached to moving vehicles and stunt falls from cars. The drone passed within roughly half a metre of a crashed rider and motorcycle, followed a performer launched from a roof and tracked another as they exited the driver's position at speed. The camera had to participate in the stunt rather than observe it from a safe distance.

Our Approach

We integrated the FPV unit into the stunt choreography and rehearsed each line with the action team, drivers and performers. Escape routes and abort points were defined without diluting the aggressive perspective. The result brought the immediacy of FPV into a large-scale cinematic production led by Sam Hargrave and Jeff Cronenweth, with Uma Thurman and Pom Klementieff on screen.
