Plein Air
Hermès Plein Air needed dynamic movement around horses without unsettling them, for Iconoclast, Jonas Lindström and Monika Lenczewska.
Andriu FPV tested an alternative propeller setup that reduced the drone's sound signature by roughly 6 dB, then shaped gradual, predictable approaches that preserved both the animals' behaviour and the film's quiet elegance.
The film involved horses, making acoustic impact and predictable behaviour as important as image quality. A conventional high-performance FPV setup could disturb the animals or change their natural movement. The camera still needed enough power and precision to create elegant close perspectives in an equestrian environment.
We modified the setup and tested alternative propellers that cut the drone's sound signature roughly in half, around 6 dB. Flight paths approached the horses gradually and avoided sudden changes in pitch or direction. The quieter configuration allowed the camera to move dynamically while respecting the animals, which was essential for both safety and authenticity.
