Meet You Out There
Niantic's Meet You Out There joined indoor FPV to a crane shot on Madrid's Gran Vía, carrying the camera from room to street without a visible cut.
For Pulse Films and directors Julien & Quentin, Andriu FPV designed the flight backwards from a match frame measured in centimetres, balancing speed, tilt and the window exit with the performer, the indoor airflow and a tightly permitted city-centre operation.
The camera began inside a room with the performer, travelled backwards, tilted down and exited through a window before the film cut seamlessly to a crane descending toward her face at street level on Gran Vía, one of the busiest streets in Madrid. The FPV movement had to reproduce the crane's exact speed, angle and visual momentum, with a match-cut tolerance of a few centimetres. Operating a large protected cinema drone indoors also generated significant airflow and noise, while the exterior portion required permits for central Gran Vía.
We designed the entire flight backwards from the match-cut frame. Position, tilt, acceleration and distance to the window were measured to hand the movement cleanly to the crane shot. Rehearsals balanced the technical match with the performer's timing and the physical effect of the drone inside the room, creating the illusion of one uninterrupted impossible camera move.
