NBA 2K21's Everything Is Game asked the camera to move with the athletes, not simply watch them from above.

For Iconoclast and director Paul Geusebroek, Andriu FPV combined protected and cinema platforms for lines through a car window, beneath a dribbling player's legs and across live court action. Each flight was rehearsed as choreography between pilot, players and shot timing.

The Challenge

The film required a chain of highly technical movements around vehicles and athletes. One line passed through a car window, continued beneath a player's legs while he dribbled and finished close to the basket at the moment of the shot. Another began in the stands, swept in a broad semicircle around live play and landed on the opposite side of the court. The camera had to be athletic without interfering with the athletes.

Our Approach

We selected a different platform for each risk profile, using protected systems near bodies and the cinema FPV rig where image quality and momentum were paramount. The flights were rehearsed as choreography between pilot, players and camera timing. This allowed the movements to feel spontaneous on screen while being extremely controlled underneath.
